About Our Work

What is I/O Psychology?

Industrial-Organizational (I/O) Psychology is the scientific study of people at work. It's a field dedicated to understanding and improving every aspect of the workplace, from hiring and training to leadership and employee well-being.

Our research helps answer practical questions: What makes a great leader? How do we build motivated and effective teams? What policies create a fair, productive, and engaging environment for employees?

Why This Research Matters

By participating, you're not just helping us--you're contributing to a shared pool of knowledge. Your insights can help:

  • Advance the Science of Work: Help build a foundation for healthier and more productive workplaces for everyone.
  • Support Our Community: Provide local insights that can help San Antonio businesses adapt and thrive.
  • Develop Future Leaders: Give students invaluable hands-on research experience with real-world business challenges.

Our Focus

Research & Data

Our research is non-intrusive and designed to capture a snapshot of workplace dynamics. We are primarily focused on building a database of companies willing to participate in future studies.

Data and Insights

Sample Research Questions

Our studies explore topics that matter to modern businesses, such as:

  • What are the key drivers of employee engagement and well-being?
  • How does leadership style impact team performance and morale?
  • What workplace flexibility policies are most effective for retention?
  • How can companies build a stronger, more positive organizational culture?

How We Gather Data

Participation is flexible, but data collection typically involves:

  • Brief, online employee surveys (typically 15-20 minutes).
  • Short, structured interviews with managers or team leaders.
  • Anonymized, high-level organizational data (e.g., general turnover rates, team structures).
